Dinner Tonight

I found a DELICIOUS looking dessert that I HAD to try out. It was calling my name, SERIOUSLY!! Tonight I took dinner over to a sweet friend of mine which gave me an excellent opportunity to share the treats. The Shamrocks were done in green chocolate. It took a few tries for me to finally get the right shape. I opted for whipped frosting, but I think next time I'll try cream cheese. I chose yellow to be the gold at the 'end of the rainbow' and it was! I was so impressed with the way they turned out, I ended up taking several pictures as I giggled and patted myself on the back.

We also had a favorite dish I love to make and eat. Pampered Chef's Cheesy Chicken Tortellini. We had our "St Patrick's Dinner" (not corn beef cabbage, just green food) a week early and it was delicious!

My Job as Mom is Complete (at least for today)

I made my first attempt at vacuuming since the accident this evening. Ms A tentatively asked if she could *help*. I thought it was a GREAT IDEA, so I answered YES!! She gingerly pushed the vacuum under the table, she's a bit shy of the loud noise. We finished that area and a bit more confidently, she asked if she could do it herself! I was SO EXCITED!! She cleaned the kitchen and moved to the livingroom. I asked if I could document the occassion, so she stopped and posed.

The Thinking of a Four Year Old

I've been teaching Ms A about empathy, sympathy, obedience and consequences recently. Today was a rather rough day since we didn't get the sleep that we normally have (one more week than a no more night classes, but that's another story). Ms A and I have been butting heads ALL DAY LONG. Since she was so tired/ornery, I insisted on a nap!!! I had her lay down and she instantly tried to convince me that her tent is her nap time sleeping area,

"It would ruin my pattern, Mommy!" 

"I would need to sleep in my bed THREE TIMES to get back to my pattern and I CAN'T DO THAT!!" 

Her thinking took her to a new place when she asked me:

"How would you feel if you were me and couldn't have your tent to sleep in?!?" 

I quickly replied, "I would have obeyed my mommy so I wouldn't loose that privilege for another day."

I appreciated her logic and obviously she's learned see things from another's perspective, but obedience and consequences ruled the day.

Am I being too mean???

'Ms Martha Washington'

Ms A was invited to a Little House on the Prairie party a few months ago. I purchased a pattern to make her a bonnet, apron and shawl. We loved the pattern so much that Ms A and I thought one of the dresses would be fun. It was initially meant to be a Christmas present, but my sewing ability was put on hold for a few months. Yesterday I pulled out the fabric to give it a try. Here's our result.
Aunt Sara mentioned that the dress makes the perfect President's Day dress. Doesn't she look like Martha Washington or a little girl from the revolution?

Happy Valentine's Day

My dear friend, Lisa, invited some friends over to make a Valentine's Wreath, via. I loved the idea and was anxious to have a girls night out crafting. My hands have been very idle recently and it felt GREAT to pull out my scissors and create. Ms A had a fun time folding the circles in quarters and pushing the pins in after I placed them on the wreath.

I thought it would be fun to use it for other holidays, so I have blue and white stars cut out for Memorial Day and the Fourth of July. I'm still thinking about Christmas-y items, like snowflakes, holly leaves or Christmas trees.

Christmas

We were very blessed to have my mom, Sara and her children visit us for Christmas. Since Mr P and Ms E were visiting their dad Christmas Day, we had two Christmases. :) The children loved opening their gifts from each other. It was hard to tell who was more excited to see what Mr P and Ms E gave Ms A - A Stuffed PINKIE PIE! We had a wonderful time with one another.

Christmas Day started with Ms A discovering her present - a DOLL HOUSE! We had delicious cinnamon rolls (thanks SARA), then we returned to opening gifts. We loved watching Ms A's excitement. Each gift was followed by "It's JUST what I WANTED!!!" After the gifts, we played, visited, read books, ate and watched movies!! :)

It was a wonderful day!

Ms A loves her tent so much, it's been her bedroom, play area (when she's not playing with her dollhouse) and changing room! HUGE HIT!
