Red Ridinghood and the Big, Bad Wolf

Reed and Ms. A have started a new tradition at bedtime - Red Ridinghood and the Big, Bad Wolf. They take turns playing the roles. This time Ms. A was a little tentative to be Red Riding Hood, it was the eating/tickling part she didn't like. :)

Math Protege

Reed has been teaching Ms. A addition with some math Flash Cards she received for Christmas. He's great working with her and her flash cards! :)
They wanted to show me her knowledge last night. I love the way she counts by touching Reed's fingers. If you listen carefully, you can her her sweet quiet voice. She's been having a hard time learning about zero and what the total is when you add to it. We had to explain it a bit and then she GOT IT!

What a SMARTIE!!

Ms. A's New Ball

We found this fun ball at the KL Tower.

Ms. A had a blast playing with it. She and Reed had fun chasing and kicking the ball all over this part of the Berjaya Times Square Mall.

What Makes Me Smile!

I was giving Ms. A a shower this morning when she said something that made me smile. Most times it's a challenge to give her a bath. She doesn't like the idea of having her hair washed. She doesn't like water in her eyes or ears - I don't blame her. She gets so fidgety when I wash her hair it is difficult not to have water all over her face. Today she found a new way to express her dislike. I started to wash her hair, her least favorite part of bath time, when she said: "I Don't Think That's a Good Idea, Mommy!"

Reed and I love hearing her reasoning. The things she comes up with is adorable. On the way to church, Reed was trying to convince Ms. A and she was a *flibbity-jibbet. Ms. A kept on saying that she was not one. I told her that she was a cutie-pootie and she accepted that. The rest of the way to church, we talked about how boys were flibbity-jibbets and girls were cutie-pooties. Ms. A went up to Alan, a friend of ours, and stated, very matter-of-factly, that 'He was a flibbity-jibbet!' She just grinned while Reed explained what and why she said what she did.

Ms. A has become my little parrot. Reed and I will be talking to her about something, which Reed takes the contrary point of view. Ms. A will look at me for reassurance and/or wait for me to correct Reed. Then she quotes what I said, very seriously, back to Reed. For example, Reed likes to kiss Ms. A with a bunch of kisses, he calls 'Attack Kisses'. The other night, we were putting her to bed and Reed asked about giving her 'Attack Kisses.' She wasn't to keen on the idea so she looked at me. I said, 'Attack kisses are for the morning, not night.' Ms. A looked at Reed with her most serious look and stated verbatim what I had said. :) Now when Reed asks her for attack kisses and she will look outside to see if the sun is up or down and then we respond with the correct statement.

*Update - I found the right spelling! From "Sound of Music's" "Maria"

It's a rule!

Even though Ms. A is potty trained, we still have issues getting her to go when she wakes up or if we leave the apartment. Reed has used the statement "It's a rule." to get her to go. This morning she wanted to get dressed and on the way she remembered that she needed to take care of her bathroom business first. She got Reed's attention and asked for his help. On the way she said, "Daddy, it's a rule!" Reed and I had a chuckle and we were so proud of her remembering the 'rules'

Bedtime Fun

Reed was getting Ms. A ready for bed when they decided to have a bit of fun. Reed has been playing with her chubby cheeks and teaching her how to do the same thing to him.

Her 'Oh, Daddy!' is her reaction to anything we ask her or tell her to do that she doesn't like. She'll sweep her arms across her body and say "Oh, Daddy!" or "Mommy!" Sometimes I wonder where she learns some of her mannerisms.

ABC's with Ms. A

Before we left for Penang, I purchased a few items at one of my favorite stores, Office Depot. One of them were alphabet flash cards. They have two sets of letters with the letters and a picture on one side and the picture spelled out on the other side.

Reed decided to play a game with Ms. A and her ABC's cards or as she says her ABCD's. He set them on the floor and they played a matching game. They were having a great time, so we decided to share it.

We 'tached

Sweet Pea and her daddy were 'tached (attached). She kept on talking about being 'tached, but we couldn't figure it out until she wrapped the necklace around Reed. :)
She loves to wear her necklace and then put it around Reed or I.
Another favorite thing she and daddy like to do are chin nibbles. They had a great time playing together.

Daddy - Daughter Day

Reed and Ms A shared Saturday morning and afternoon together. They hiked Penang Hill, also known as Bukit Bendera. The hill is 830 meter high (2,750 foot) with the hike being about 6km (3 and a 3/4 miles). I had read how long and strenuous the hike was, so I decided to stay home. I had so much to catch up on and having Ms A around, it would have taken longer to complete. I also enjoyed the alone time. :)

Reed ended up carrying Ms A up 3/4 of the hike, which took three hours to complete. When they arrived at the top, Reed let Ms A run around. Apparently, his energy was drained and hers wasn't. The parking attendant at the bottom suggested using the tram to get down. When Reed first heard about it, he thought he'd be alright. Once he reached the top, he changed his mind.

The view was wonderful! I'm not sure if it was worth the hike, you'll have to ask Reed. :) They also saw a temple at the top of the hill.
