Halloween Fun

Halloween as Reed sees it is a "boy" holiday. They/He loves the candy, scaring little girls and dressing up in costume. This year Reed was an Escaped Intel Employee with his World Wide ID as his "prisoner" number. Sweet Pea was a cat, she put everything but the tail and ears together. Cutie Pie was a Ballerina Ghost. Intel had a fabulous Trick or Treat/Activities and Costume contest for the employees. Reed was first place for his division and first place overall {Cutie Pie in his arms swayed the judges a little ;)}.

Afterwards, the Prisoner and Cat went out for more goodies while I stayed home with the ghostie. :)

'Ms Martha Washington'

Ms A was invited to a Little House on the Prairie party a few months ago. I purchased a pattern to make her a bonnet, apron and shawl. We loved the pattern so much that Ms A and I thought one of the dresses would be fun. It was initially meant to be a Christmas present, but my sewing ability was put on hold for a few months. Yesterday I pulled out the fabric to give it a try. Here's our result.
Aunt Sara mentioned that the dress makes the perfect President's Day dress. Doesn't she look like Martha Washington or a little girl from the revolution?

Little House On The Prairie

Ms A was invited to a "Little House On The Prairie" Birthday Party for her friend, Ms G. I loved watching Laura as a child, so I was more than excited. I found a great pattern (Thanks JoAnn's for your $1 Patterns). Ms A chose her fabric and I got to work. She also chose one of her dresses to wear. I {Heart} the final result!

In other news: Ms A has the sweetest little heart and perspective. Aunt Sara was visiting over the weekend. Ms A had a sweet little conversation with her. It went something like this:

Ms A: Do you know how we are going to get a baby?
Aunt Sara: No.

Ms A: We are getting a baby the adoption way, not the tummy way!

Isn't she so sweet! I love that she said it so matter-of-factly. :)
Yes, we have been working with LDS Family Services to bring a new little one into our family. We've just begun, so no announcements, yet. ;)

All Hallow's Eve

Ms A and Reed have been counting days down to Halloween since the beginning of the month. I don't know who was more excited! Whenever we'd ask Ms A what she was wanted to be, she'd have a list of several ideas. We finally reached a decision with two costumes, a Unicorn Pegasus (thanks B and B) and a Cowgirl Princess (thanks to Aunt Sara and Ms E).

Friday was the big preschool celebration. Ms A gave me very DIRECT instructions as far as face painting. She wanted a rainbow with a blue star under it. She loved the pink boots and hat and was TICKLED PINK when she discovered how much the dress would twirl. (She's definitely a girl.) I enjoyed seeing her preschool buddies all dressed up. Everyone had a match except for Ms. A. :) She had a great time with her friends and was tickled when I showed up and demonstrated how to make edible spiders (ritz crackers, cream cheese, pretzels and raisins - Thanks Sara for the AWESOME idea!).

We carved our pumpkins that night and much to Ms A's disapproval, we made sure she had the FULL carving experience by getting the seeds out by hand, spoon or shaking. She DID NOT like to feel of the pumpkin insides. Once they were cleaned out, Ms A gave us instructions on how to carve the pumpkins. She wanted hers to have a happy face on one side and a scary face on the other side. With Reed, she told him what shape to carve for the face.

Saturday was a full day. Our church group had a Halloween Party with a Trunk or Treat at the end. We had a great time! Later that evening, we went Trick or Treating. Ms A was joined by Mr A to do a bit more candy hunting with daddy! She had a wonderful time with her best bud and her daddy.

POUFY!

Our conversation this morning went something like this:

Ms A: Mommy, I want to wear my poufy dress to church!
Me: But you have worn it the past two weeks. Why don't you try another dress?

Ms A: No, I want my Poufy Blue dress. It's so POUFY!
Me: But, you have other Poufy dresses.

Ms A: My blue dress is POUFY all by itself! I'll wear another dress next week I promise.

So she's in her *POUFY* dress once more.

Later on she asked: " Do I look like Cinderella?"
Now I know the real reason for the poufy dress! ;)

Hair Clippies and Bicycles

We have a very GIRLY Girl! When I came home with some hair clippies, Ms A was more than EXCITED to try them on and pose for pictures.

This evening, Ms A. decided we needed some family time outside, so she got mom and dad out the door and requested a trip to the nearby soccer field, a favorite place for riding her bike. She's becoming a little speed demon. Ms A has also become braver on her bike {WaHOO!}. She was pedalling all over the place and encouraging mom and dad to exercise. {well mostly mom} We had a great evening.

Reed's dad is in the Middle East for a contract job he'll be on for a year. A few weeks ago, he asked if any of his grand-daughters would be interested in some jewelry. With Ms. A loving to dress up as a Princess, we gratefully said yes. A package arrived yesterday from Grandma Gayla full of wonderful, sparkling Princess jewelry. Ms A was ecstatic to try them on, but only after her Cinderella dress was on. She was equally excited to pose for Grandma Valerie and mom. Here are a few of the pictures.

In Malaysia, umbrellas are used for protection from the sun. The sun peaked out today after a few days of cloudy skies. We don't see much of the sun, so Ms A had to use the umbrella and her styling sunglasses. :)

Princess A's Dance

I came downstairs this morning to discover Ms. A in her princess dress, but it was much more POOFY!! When I asked her how she made it poofy, she smiled and said she put a skirt under her dress. There was not one, but THREE tulle skirts under her dress (one ballerina and two fairy skirts.) I guess she wanted it to be very POOFY! We played Cinderella with me being the Prince. She asked me to dance, she ran away when the clock struck midnight, lost her slipper on the stairs and hid in her room. As I reached her room, she smiled as I ask if the slipper would fit on her foot. Then she asked me, the prince, if we could get married! We walked down the stairs as I hummed Wagner's wedding march. She informed me I was humming the wrong song, then I explained that I was correct and she grinned even more. After the humming I ask if she wanted to dance while I took her pictures. She was thrilled.

After we were done playing princess, Ms. A looked at me and said "Even if I don't have my Princess Dress on, I'm still a Princess!" That you are, my little one! :)
