Transportation

These past couple of weeks, Ms A's preschool has been learning about transportation. This week was pretty full. A neighbor to Ms A's teacher offered to cut and sand 50 paddle boats for all of the Preschool classes. WOW!!!! They painted and raced their boats on Wednesday. She won her race with another classmate, which she excitedly told me as soon as I picked her up. Thursday we raced the boat in her tub. (a great activity for her to do while I was getting ready, a bit wet, but great)

Friday was the day the children had been waiting for since they started learning about transportation - A BIKE RODEO. They closed off part of the parking lot at her school and let the them ride their bikes or scooters. Ms A was so excited, she asked Reed to take of her training wheels the week before so she could be a BIG kid at school. She and Reed practiced and practiced. When I came that afternoon, Reed was there holding my crying little one, apparently she went around TEN times and wanted to stop but couldn't so she fell. We were only able to get her back on her bike with the promise of putting the video and pictures on the blog so her cousins and could see her. :)

No Training Wheels

With summer quickly approaching (fingers crossed), Reed and Ms A decided it was time to take off the training wheels.

Hair Clippies and Bicycles

We have a very GIRLY Girl! When I came home with some hair clippies, Ms A was more than EXCITED to try them on and pose for pictures.

This evening, Ms A. decided we needed some family time outside, so she got mom and dad out the door and requested a trip to the nearby soccer field, a favorite place for riding her bike. She's becoming a little speed demon. Ms A has also become braver on her bike {WaHOO!}. She was pedalling all over the place and encouraging mom and dad to exercise. {well mostly mom} We had a great evening.

Ms. A's Bicycle Accident

Ms. A and I went for a little ride today. She's still new to the bicycle world, but she's getting pretty good at riding. As we were walking, we were talking about bike safety, why we wear helmets, steering, watching where we are going, etc. As we were returning, there was a bump in the sidewalk, instead of pedaling, she stopped mid-bump, lost her balance and she and the bike tipped over. Luckily, she just scrapped her thumb and her pride. She was so brave and climbed back on her bike to finish her ride. the rest of the way home we talked about helmet safety and how her helmet protected her head.

It was perfect timing for a teaching moment. I felt bad that she was hurt, but relieved that she recovered and got right back on her bike.

Sweet Pea's First Bicycle

After months of growing and begging, we took Ms. A out to get her first bicycle. She's been asking for one since our stay in Malaysia. She was very insistent that it be pink and purple. When we went to the store she went to this purple bike with a little bag and a water bottle. She tried it out in the store and did a pretty good job for a first-timer. We pick out her helmet and she rode her bike out of the store (after we purchased it.) She refused to take her helmet off and as soon as we arrived home she asked dad if she could ride her bike. They had a great time together.

In other news, we had a busy day. Ms. A and I went to the zoo for the Membership Appreciation Day. Since we went yesterday, yes Ms. A and I love the zoo, I asked Ms. A what animal she wanted to see. Giraffes were her reply. I was a bit surprised since she loves the primates and the elephants, but I couldn't deter her from her goal. We had a fun time. When we came home, we went over to our friends' home. Reed was helping them install tile in their kitchen. Ms. A missed her daddy, so we stay for a short time until Ms. A's friend came home.

Jen invited us to go to the Apple Orchard with them, so Ms. A and I went to check it out. There were horses nearby that we visited. Ms. A asked if she could ride them. It seems she thinks we can ride whatever horses we see. I had to explain to her that they were resting and besides horses need saddles for us to ride them. She was okay with that idea. We had an enjoyable time with Jen and her children.
